Introduction to Geotechnical Laboratory Testing

Since the spring of 2007, GeoTest has carried a series of training courses on Soil and Rock Description and have given these courses to over 200 delegates.  These courses are offered in association with David Norbury who is on the British Standards committee for BS5930 and was the writer of the substantial number of amendments to this document published in December 2007.  The courses are designed for practicing geotechnical engineers and geoscientists to bring them up to date with the new Eurocodes and BS5930:1999 as amended December 2007. The courses are a combination of lectures and practicals with the rock description course also including a visit to a quarry to demonstrate in situ logging of rock discontinuities.

The soil and rock description courses are CPD approved by the Geological Society.  We have recently written a new course on Introduction to Geotechnical Laboratory Testing and we have again applied for CPD approval to The Geological Society.  The one-day courses are generally held at GeoTest in Adlington near Chorley but we can also arrange courses on soil description at clients’ own offices.
